Strive for 5 Program Earns State Communications Award

(October 9, 2018) -- A program initiated to reduce chronic absenteeism in the St. Joseph School District earns recognition on the state level. The Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) recently announced the SJSD’s Strive for 5 attendance campaign as a recipient of the Award of Merit in the Golden Achievement category.

“What's great about this is that you didn't leave it all at the feet of the parents. Attendance became everyone's shared responsibility,” stated one of the contest judges. “This is a remarkably thorough and well done plan.”

The MOSRPA Communications Awards Program gives its members the opportunity to have their work evaluated by PR professionals and measured against industry standards. “The MOSPRA Communications Awards Program not only recognizes exemplary school public relations programs, but also provides valuable feedback from public relations professionals to help our members continue to improve their work. Congratulations to this year's honorees on this well-deserved recognition,” said MOSPRA President Paul Tandy.

Results from the first year of the Strive for Five Campaign were shared during Monday’s Board of Education Work Session. Slides from the presentation are provided below and were originally included in a recent presentation at the 2018 MSBA Conference. The SJSD will receive the award during MOSPRA’s fall conference in late October.
