August Attendance Update

(September 5, 2017) – Attendance data from the month of August were released earlier today. We are pleased to report a 1.7% increase in district-wide attendance through the first eleven days of the school year compared to this time last year.

Proportional attendance is included as part of the accreditation process for K-12 schools in Missouri. The “proportional attendance rate” is the percentage of students attending school at least 90% of the time.  Approximately 91.3% of students in the St. Joseph School District have attended school at least 90% of the time through August 31st. This is a significant improvement over attendance last August when 89.6% of students attended at least 90% of the time.

Several schools saw significant improvements in attendance in August compared to the same time last year, including Hyde (3%), Edison (3.7%), Parkway (3.8%), Truman (3.8%), Spring Garden (4.4%), and Lafayette (6.2%).  We are pleased by the strong start to the school year in St. Joseph.  Keep up the good work students!  Every day at school is an investment in the future YOU!
