The chart below reflects student performance on the 2017 MAP Grade Level Assessment in English language arts for grades 3-8 in the St. Joseph School District. Analysis of data shows a relationship between a student’s academic proficiency and their absenteeism rate. 63.6% of students who missed less than 3% of the school year were proficient or better on last year’s English language arts assessment. Once a student missed more than 5% of the school year their level of reading achievement dropped significantly.
