The chart below reflects student performance on the 2017 MAP Grade Level Assessment in mathematics for grades 3-8 in the St. Joseph School District. Analysis of data shows a relationship between a student’s academic proficiency and their absenteeism rate. 50.3% of students who missed less than 3% of the school year were proficient or better on last year’s mathematics assessment. Missing more than 3% of the school year (more than 5 days) resulted in significantly lower levels of student achievement.
