Embracing a "School-Going Culture"

(March 24, 2018)  – Showing up each day is a mindset. Students who attend school regularly become adults who show up to work each day, ready to contribute value to their employer and the community where they live.

Children in every Missouri community manage chronic health conditions or seasonal illnesses. We are not unique. What is unique to St. Joseph is our tolerance of low student attendance over the past decade. Telling ourselves that we have it worse than any other community is not accurate or helpful. That only serves to normalize and institutionalize mediocrity. We are so much better than that as a community.

Every day matters and presents an opportunity to learn and become college and career ready. Let’s finish strong this school year and strive to be even better next year.
